"SUNRISE" is among the most rare prints by Arthur Secunda. The image size is 30 1/2" X 24" plus full margins. I am showing this against a black background so that you may see the margins and the beautiful deckled edges all the way around this print. The year of publication was 1978 and the edition size 200. This print was translated from a torn paper collage as is the case with many of the prints by Arthur Secunda who has achieved preeminence, in the international art market, for his torn paper collages. When "Sunrise" was published, there was to have been a deluxe edition on Japon Necré rice paper. However, when attempting to print this piece on the rice paper, the ink did not absorb into the paper, but rather, it ran and produced a blurry image. After several trials, and numerous difficulties, the deluxe edition was finally published in 1980 as Sunrise ll. The image is 32" X 25 1/2" and has full bleed. It also has one additional color, a band of dark gray, and less yellow in the sky. I am showing pictures of both pieces to clarify any questions that may arise with regard to these two different prints. While I have both pieces available, this listing is for "Sunrise" which is by far the most rare of the two, thus "Sunrise ll" has a lower price. As a testimony to its international importance, "Sunrise" was selected for the cover of, perhaps the most prestigious art show in the world, MIGAME. I am also including a picture of "Sunrise" as it appeared on the cover of the MIGAME exhibition in Paris in 1980. This further explains why this print sold out so quickly many years ago and has become so rare.
